Together we can fight cervical cancer

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Does the vaccine protect against all cervical cancers?

The vaccine protects against the two types of HPV that cause 70% of cervical cancers. As the vaccine doesn’t protect against all the types of HPV that can cause cervical cancer, it is still very important to attend for cervical screening every three years to check for cervical abnormalities. This combination of immunisation and cervical screening offers the best possible protection against cervical cancer. You will be invited to attend cervical screening when you reach 20 years of age.
