Together we can fight cervical cancer

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Why aren’t young men being immunised?

The priority is to directly protect girls against cervical cancer. By protecting all girls against the two most common causes of cervical cancer eventually the level of protection will be raised because there will be fewer viruses circulating, this is called ‘herd immunity’. It is important that boys continue to practise safer sex to reduce the risk of catching and spreading HPV.
