Together we can fight cervical cancer

Ailsa's story — transcription

Back to video

Hi my name’s Ailsa, I’m from Australia

I decided to get the vaccine because I don’t really want to get cancer and it minimises the chances of it

The family would be annoyed if you got cancer, they’d get upset, you’d get upset

I was a bit worried about it at first because I thought it would hurt because needles are made of metal, but it didn’t actually sting that much and it was fine because I didn’t look at it.

I think it’s more imagined pain because you imagine what you thinks gonna happen

But it’s actually OK and it just stung for about 5 minutes after

So it’s OK don’t worry about it

If you decide to get the injection don’t look at the needle and don’t imagine any pain because it doesn’t hurt that much and imagining it will just stress you out
